Can You Name Children As Life Insurance Beneficiaries?

Once you have chosen a life insurance policy, you must make the important decision of naming beneficiaries.  The most common beneficiary named, on average, is a spouse.  If there is no spouse, or you already have them named on another policy you may consider adding your child as a beneficiary.  But is this even an option?  In general, it is an option but it will vary depending on the insurer.

Over the last few months, we’ve been hearing a lot about Occupy Wall Street and what its adherents are demanding. They’re calling themselves “the 99%” and are protesting what they claim are unfair advantages given to the top 1% of wage earners in America.

Like other areas — such as income taxes — there’s no clear-cut answer. But there are some policy pricing components which would tend to favor wealthier drivers more so than those who are considered middle-class or poor.

  • Rich people tend to live in nicer neighborhoods, where crime rates (including auto theft) are lower. So their premiums are likely to be less expensive than someone who lives in a higher-crime area.

Award fails to panda to critics

“Outrage!” “Scandal!” “Travesty!” “Misogyny!” These were just some of the reactions to the BBC’s decision to include a panda in its list of nominees for 2011 “woman” face of the year.

Pippa Middleton (more accustomed to being in derriere of the year lists) and Adele (more familiar to voice of the year awards) were just two of the remaining eleven nominees.

California law raises age for mandatory car seats

Under a state law that takes effect Jan. 1, 2012, children under age 8 in California must be properly buckled into a car seat thats placed in the vehicles back seat. Previously, state law required that kids use car seats until age 6 or until reaching a weight of 60 pounds.

Children under age 8 are exempt from the new law if theyre at least 4 feet, 9 inches tall.

For each child under 16 who isnt properly secured in a car, either in a car seat or with a seat belt, the parents if theyre in the car or the driver can be fined more than $475 and receive one violation point on their California driving records.
